Official updates on Hogwarts Legacy have dried up almost completely since the game was delayed into 2022, but recent days have seen the game taking the headlines on occasion. Rumours have claimed that the game might not be able to launch this year, while some conflicting reports have claimed that it’s still on track for 2022, and that development is apparently proceeding well.
Amidst this confusion, Warner Bros. seems to have moved to give assurances that Hogwarts Legacy will indeed launch this year. In an official update publishing on the Wizarding World website, the publisher reiterated 2022 as the year that the Avalanche Software-developed action RPG will launch this year.
“2022 is also the year when the highly anticipated console game from Warner Bros. Games’ Portkey Games label, Hogwarts Legacy, is set to be released,” the update reads. “Developed by Avalanche Software, this action RPG allows players to be at the centre of their own adventure set during the late 1800s wizarding world. From learning powerful spells and brewing potions, to honing combat skills and taming magical beasts, this game will allow players to experience the magical world as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry like never before as they determine the fate of the entire wizarding world.”
Last year, Warner Bros. general manager Rachel Wakely suggested that Hogwarts Legacy would launch after the theatrical release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in April. In December, in an update on the game’s official Twitter page, the developer said that more updates and news will be shared in 2022.
Some recent reports have also claimed that a new trailer of Hogwarts Legacy will be shown at a rumoured upcoming PlayStation event. Read more on that through here.
Whenever it launches, Hogwarts Legacy will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
