As usually happens, on one side and the other they came out to announce the news of the purchase of the rights. Netflix did it from an exclusive interview that Juan Mayne, director of content acquisition and co-productions in Spanish at Netflix, gave to Variety, something like the bible of entertainment in Hollywood.

“For a while, one of the pillars of Netflix was to take over the world’s rights, leaving Spain out,” he began, and clarified that “our strategy for Spanish cinema has evolved over time and that is no longer the case. Our main objective is to bring Spanish cinema closer to our members around the world”.

We hope with this new contract to improve the conditions of access to existing fans and also to be able to add new audiences that will make the population of the Almodovarian planet grow”, it reads.
