By tracking your meals and keeping a food journal, you can get a clearer idea of how much you are eating during the day, as well as be better able to track patterns in your eating. Not only can this help when it comes to eating a healthy diet, but it can also be great for detecting food sensitivities and allergies, too. 

Do Quick Workouts

When you’re a parent, you might not always have time to do full workouts every day. It can still be possible to sneak in a quick workout here and there.

From doing some lunges while you clean the house to finding a moment to do some jumping jacks, even some short bursts of activity can go a long way when it comes to maintaining a healthy metabolism. Additionally, it often doesn’t matter what kind of exercises you are doing if you are aiming for 15 to 20 minutes of physical activity a day. 

Stay Properly Hydrated

Even though many know that they feel better when they are well-hydrated, they might not realize how significant of an impact being properly hydrated has on their overall health. Not only do you feel thirsty when you are dehydrated, but you can also experience symptoms like headaches, brain fog, and hunger, too. 

If you aren’t sure where to start when it comes to staying hydrated, then it can be a good idea to take your body weight, divide it in half, and then drink that many ounces of water. 

Make Time for Sleep

Many parents may not find as much time as they would like for sleep. Making time for it when possible can be highly important. When you sleep, your body does lots of work to heal and repair itself. Because of this, good rest is necessary for maintaining good health. 

One way to start improving your sleep quality is to make sure that you aren’t spending too much time on devices before you go to bed. Even though scrolling through news feeds on your phone may seem relaxing, the truth is that it can lead to you staying wide awake.

This is due to the fact that many device screens emit a type of light, called blue light, that signals to your brain to stay awake.

To make sure that you are getting in the right mood for bed, it can be helpful to begin a relaxing nighttime ritual. For some, reading a book or writing in a journal can be a good way to unwind, while others may want to do something like draw or meditate.

Additionally, trying a deep breathing exercise or some gentle stretches can also be good for getting yourself both mentally and physically in gear to get better rest.
